Comets Down Hawks on Emotional 8th Grade Night

On an emotional 8th Grade Night at St. Thomas gym, the Comets girls teams took care of business by winning both games against the Peoria Hollis Hawks. The 8th grade team won 44-6 in a commanding victory, but the real story couldn't be found on a stat sheet.

If it wasn't emotional enough already with the 8th graders playing their last regular season home game, the crowd got to see the return of Lexi Dinh on her home court for the first time this season following her early season injury. The crowd walked away from the game with one thought... She's back. Other than a knee brace, you would have no idea Lexi had missed any time this season.

The Comets as whole put on a fantastic last show for all in attendance. Points came from everywhere. Defense was smothering. Energy was high.  It was the exact type of game you hope to see before going into regionals.

The 7th Grade team will play next in their IESA Regional opening match against Pleasant Hill on Saturday, November 22nd at 9:30am at St. Jude Catholic School.

The 8th Grade team will play next in their IESA Regional opening match on December 1st with their opponent determined after seeding is completed. The 8th graders will look to defend their regional championship at home this year as St. Thomas has been selected to host the 8th Grade Regional tournament.
